Every time I was in Paris I used to stay in different arrondissements. This time we were staying at the While we were in Paris we stayed at the Grands Boulevards Hotel in the 2nd arrondissement. Located on the busy Boulevard Poissonnière surrounded by shops, brasseries, bars and the famous Grand Rex cinema. Right opposite the Grands Boulevards Metro stations and a five-minute taxi ride from Gare du Nord.
The Grands Boulevards Hotel was opened last year by the Experimental Group. They are know for incredible, stylish and affordable Hotels all around Europe, for example the Henrietta Hotel in London. The building is a traditional typical Parisian building which dates back to the 18th century.
We were booked in one of the “Parisian Eaves” room. The rooms are located directly under the roof beneath a high ceilings with beautiful exposed wooden beams. Each rooms comes with a coffee machine, high speed Wi-Fi, Radios, good air-conditioning and a fully stocked mini bars.
I secretly always judge the style of a restaurant or hotel by their bathrooms. As I find you can be most creative with the interior of these rooms. And French Interior Designer Dorothée Meilichzon did not disappoint. She managed to create a stylish mix of modern and old French features throughout the entire hotel and the bathroom was by far my favorite. The bathrooms come with branded slippers and waffle-bathrobes as well as little linen sacks which include organic products from brands such as Codage and Malin + Goetz.

Their attention to detail is what really made me completely fall in love with this beautiful hotel. We arrived to a beautiful handwritten personal note and a freshly mixed bottle of vibrant Negroni in our room. Throughout our entire stay the service was very attendant. They assisted us with table bookings and phone calls and also offer laundry service. I had a parcel shipped to the hotel during my stay, which unfortunately never arrived. And a few weeks, after we were back in SA, they still assisted me in that matter.
good to know:
The hotel has no spa or own gym. but these were two points that we personally didn’t miss at all. On our first day, we explored the city on foot and walked more than 15 kilometers. A way more fun and exciting workout than on a treadmill.
The hotels restaurant is located on the ground floor in a glass covered the courtyard.
On Saturday morning we had the pleasure to sit there for a big breakfast before we headed out in the city. The breakfast buffet offers fresh pressed juices, croissants, charcuterie, fruits, savoury loaf cakes, yogurt and you can order coffee & eggs to your liking.
Before we knew where we would stay, Jorge had already created our whole itinerary and did all of our restaurant bookings. So unfortunately we did not have enough time to try the restaurant for dinner. Next time we will definitely check out the French-Italian menu by chef Giovanni Passerini.
We really enjoyed our stay at the Grands Boulevards Hotel. And I can highly recommend it for your next weekend city trip to Paris. The location on the bustling Boulevard Poissonnière is the perfect starting point to go and explore the city. It felt that wherever we wanted to go it never really took us longer than 20 minutes and even the ride to the airport just sets you back 40 € for your uber. Thank you for hosting us. We will hopefully be back in smmer.
